Wakefield’s answer to modern indie meets classic 90’s indie, Ascendo gives a nostalgic sound that leaves the listener wanting more. The four-piece band includes brothers Charlie Williams (Songwriter and Frontman) and Joe Doody (Lead Guitar), who started Asecondo and then later introduced Ethan Swales (Drummer) and Matt Freeman (Bassist).
The band have been likened to that of Oasis and The Arctic Monkeys and I can certainly see why. Following the release of their debut EP ‘Something Sweeter’ which gained national and international attention, the boys released ‘Bonafide’. The first few seconds of this song blast into your ears with room-filling bass, then lead singer Charlie’s vocals fill the track allowing me to make resemblances to Liam Gallagher.
Anticipated release ‘Angelina’ has already been making waves over in Australia, hitting number 1 on the Top 25 Indie Alliance Chart. A classic rock tune, mark your calendars and get ready to stream next Friday! (29th May)
A band I am sure will be making moves for many years to come.
