I’d like to introduce Cold Comforts. The alt-rock quartet is based in Manchester and is the brainchild and passion project of multi-instrumentalist, Kieran Murphy. He is also joined by James Cooke, Imogen Shortall and Jacob Bentley.
In their first year together, they released first single ‘Get Back Up’ and then went on a DIY nine-date tour of the UK and were shortlisted for Glastonbury’s Emerging Talent Competition. With a desire to maintain their momentum, the quartet worked tirelessly throughout lockdown perfecting their craft to create and release two new singles.
The first 'Far Apart' was released on the 21st August and is a wistful letter of adoration for a sibling, “Even though we’re very far, we’re never far apart”. As you listen, you notice the vocals start off gentle, but the passion of the singer echoes through abundantly. Then a turning point is reached in the song where it gets rockier and makes you reminiscent of Foo Fighters. A band who they are inspired by I believe!
Influenced by: Courtney Barnett, Disq and Car Seat Headrest.
