Newcastle indie outfit Baltic are here with their latest release ‘Money’, a stellar tune which I am sure will be everyone's favourite.
Bounding onto their local music scene back in 2017, the quartet oozes immeasurable talent and killer confidence. Having played sold-out shows at the nation’s staple music venues, such as Newcastle’s Think Tank? and the 02 Academy and slots at This is Tomorrow and Hardwick Live festivals – they have plenty of experience under their belts. And I for one cannot wait to see the performance they unleash at their first gig after lockdown.
'Money' erupts as an upbeat feel-good tune, with an epic bass riff and booming drums which will undoubtedly have you grooving, or toe-tapping at the very least. Then the vocals hit, and you can't help but find similarities of their sound to The Kooks.
Lead singer Charlie explains, “The song is about a recurring fling between two people. The lyrics reference encounters on nights out and how the other person is always taking money and wasting the other's time. On the whole, it’s about a common situation people find themselves in when they’re young.”
“picking up my wages just to spend them on the same night out”
